SynonymsDescendantsAnagramsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In a meeting, two or more people come together to discuss one or more topics, often in a formal setting. DefinitionsAn act or process of coming together as an assembly for a common purpose A meeting is a gathering of two or more people that has been convened for the purpose of achieving a common goal through verbal interaction, such as sharing information or reaching agreement. Meetings may occur face to face or virtually, as mediated by communications technology, such as a telephone conference call, a skyped conference call or a videoconference. Thus, a meeting may be distinguished from other gatherings, such as a chance encounter (not convened), a sports game or a concert (verbal interaction is incidental), a party or the company of friends (no common goal is to be achieved) and a demonstration (whose common goal is achieved mainly through the number of demonstrators present, not verbal interaction). Commercially, the term is used by meeting planners and other meeting professionals to denote an event booked at a hotel, convention center or any other venue dedicated to such gatherings. In this sense, the term meeting covers a lecture (one presentation), seminar (typically several presentations, small audience, one day), conference (mid-size, one or more days), congress (large, several days), exhibition or trade show (with manned stands being visited by passers-by), workshop (smaller, with active participants), training course, team-building session and kick-off event. Q. Hi, In most countries, before a person is executed, a final meeting is permitted. What do people talk about in this meeting? Sometime even a meeting is not permitted - folks talk on phone. What happens just before the execution? Can a person walk to the gallows? Or they are dragged? What does the priest tell these people before they die? Do they die full of remorse or guilt, or just angry at everything? Asked by Sylvie Schon - Tue May 13 12:00:54 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. In the U.S. the condemned is usually moved to a special cell just outside the execution chamber a day or more before the actual execution. I doubt most U.S. prisons allow face to face contact between the condemned and his or her family. This probably happens over the phone. They are probably permitted to meet with their attorney regarding any appeal they have outstanding. They are also given the opportunity to meet with clergy for spiritual guidance. They are also given the choice of their last meal and are fed that. It depends on whether the person goes to the execution chamber willingly or not. The is a contingent of specially trained officers on hand in case that does not go to plan. As for your last question, nobody can answer that.… [cont.] Answered by dmg1969 - Tue May 13 12:09:23 2008 How do I work out the % of the people that arrived before the meeting started? Q. Q. Say I am an intern and I have an informal meeting with my manager's manager. A meeting more about getting to know one another. Asked by Kennedy - Wed Jul 9 09:05:07 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. If you're an intern, have a lot of questions ready. You can ask: 1. How long have they been in the company? 2. Have they always been in this line of business? 3. Where do they think the future of this industry lies? Don't fire them off like a machine gun though. Only rely on them if they don't take the lead. Allow them to lead initially then come in with your own questions. If the conversations fails to flow after this then you can dig a little deeper - 4 Do they have far to come in the morning? 5. have they always lived in the area Answers to all of these questions will lead to more questions - so look out for the links and opportunities.
